In 2019, the Avenches Opera Festival will propose performances from June 21 to June 29. The Avenches Opera Festival takes place since 1995 at the beginning of the summer in the beautiful historical location of the ancient Roman Avenche arena, near the Lake of Murten / Morat. Past editions features famous opera such as Aida, Carmen, Nabucco, The Enchanted Flute, La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Don Giovanni, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Bohème etc.
The 2019 Avenches Opera Festival will feature a selection of the most famous aria from the Aida opera. They will be associated to some songs from Il Barbiere di Siviglia of Gioachino Rossini,
Turandot of Giacomo Puccini, Orfeo ed Euridice of Christoph Willibald Gluck, La Traviata from Giuseppe Verdi, Carmen from Georges Bizet and many others. Music will be performed by the Fribourg Chamber Orchestra.
